somewhat mysterious, meandering, grayscale alcoholic "blues" with minimal arrangements of voice, piano, guitar, loops, etc. his voice reminds me a bit of john cale, and the feeling is sort of like my father sketchily telling half stories about being in new york or argentina in the 70s, talking about how this or that was an unhappy time but not really elaborating about why, or elaborating much about anything, maybe making a passing reference to why it's important not to drink too much. or my own self remembering that i like movies like 'under the volcano' or 'cutter's way', but just loosely and ignoring that they are both palpable downers. like trying to enjoy an afternoon drinking by yourself in a dark room, but mainly the hours are slipping away, and a headache is developing. actually i wrote all of that having neither paid much attention to the lyrics nor bothered to read them inside the gatefold - looking at them now, turns out i nailed it! highly recommended!
