javier segura - s/t

sick semi-industrial/wave mini-lp by spain's javier segura, his 1983 debut. these five tracks are marked by segura's unique vocal delivery - halted, heaving gasps with the odd bit of croon, electronically processed. at times, the record's squeaking drum pulses and odd copy and paste embellishments recall his countrymen diseño corbusier, while its more accessible end offers a type of strangulated, autumnal synth-pop that could feasibly be sandblasted into something for the radio. it's all the better for its abrasiveness, though, with an addictively crooked and surreal approach. recommended!
