karma - thrillseekers

a minor hit from a golden year of downtempo, 1999. look beyond (or maybe include) the guy fieri cover art and you will find a record highly representative of its time, and luckily i can still feel it when i am driving around in gardena at sunset on a warm evening: pussyfoot, grand royal, mo wax, mike mills and his video for air's "all i need", a loose idea of p.t. anderson, probably focused on "boogie nights", mini golf, the general 70s in the late 90s revivalism, "porn groove", spike jonze, various skate videos i am better off not mythologizing, etc. this record has gloriously chilled pieces like "let's go thrillseeking" - the video below, even in its texture, figures into the aforementioned.




also included, but eluding video link for now, are exemplary breaky house-ish tunes called "del mar" and "batteria e baixa".
