kenneth lee wells - music for dark kites

double lp by grand rapids/muskegon, mi avant garde artist kenneth lee wells, possibly his only album. has the kind of snowed-in hermetic basement depth i like to ascribe to other music from this part of the world, but with a bit of resonant openness that might result from being on the west coast of something. still, the overall tone is darkly psychedelic, and not just because of the titles ("ghosts", "fluttering souls", "gaze to liquid surfaces above", "coma berenices"). sounds like he is conducting a seance for his own ghost...
