exceedingly colorful split 12" on moscow label udacha, which lightly suggests the dancefloor via slow, smothered tribal house drums and wiggly jazz motifs on the middle two tunes. what i would like to draw your attention to is the particular atmosphere that suffuses the entire record, strongest on the bookending new age/ambient tracks but present throughout, and possibly summarized by the title of the opener, "we see the islands". while this is a split between two distinct artists, they both really nail the thor heyerdahl, mystical archipelago feeling, with a bent, hazy, synthetic mood that recalls wave temples or dolphins into the future, accentuated by lapping waves.
