soares brandão - homenagem a foucault

a riddle of a piano record by brazilian composer soares brandão, "creator of a new piano", who studied with both pierre schaeffer and pierre boulez in paris, at the some might say conflicting schools of ina and ircam. nothing beyond the man and the piano here, other than a dynamic range; the music is partly improvised and dedicated to exploring the "sounds themselves" and so we are at the mercy of soares brandão's whims, from striking, intense clusters to moments of spaced tenderness. it's a pretty enthralling listen, and is topped off with absolutely unreal cover art, looks like something by the skaters!
