refreshing lp of siberian local and indigenous music, which offers perspectives and instruments not often heard. ten oblasts are represented here. much of this lp will have you considering where this music is coming from - shades of native american, turkic, east asian, and slavic music, as well as some completely unique instrumentation. as is typical with melodiya releases, there are a few choral pieces, but even these contain local features. a great introduction to a region with an extremely rich musical culture!
