gonna go out on a limb and suggest that while there is plenty to enjoy here for fans of eccentric japanese new wave-esque - world standard, katra turana, and yann tomita all feature - the real reason to buy this compilation is el niño's "marionette". as far as western audiences (discogs users) are concerned, this is the only track tatsuya miyake ever recorded (though she has four other contributor credits on said site), and it is a serious heartmelter, sparse and at times hesitant but with a divebombing, operatic sense of drama - just unforgettable. put it up there with sodaneva's "42" among jawdropping japanese one and dones.
