wildly entertaining compilation from a peculiar and freewheeling era of new york music, particularly downtown new york, 1987, post no wave and mudd club, during emergent hip-hop and electro. the david linton track is especially good, a reduced drum machine work out that kind of reminds me of tolouse low trax. but spread across two discs we get all manner of other experimentation, with many of the usual suspects featuring: christian marclay, david garland, ikue mori, wayne horvitz, skeleton crew, sue garner & rick brown, elliot sharp, and more.
